I shredded about 6 red radish in my food process, chopped up red grapes, cilantro, and half a tomato.
Squeezed in some lemon juice, and tossed it all with some salt, rock salt, black pepper and brown sugar.

Tried this mexican place in Davis Square, upper scale ambiance, great music and service, enjoyed our drinks and appetizers the best. Here's our favorites -
The chalupas were soft corn cakes with mexican fresh cheese, drizzled with a jalapeno agave and topped with apple fritters.
The corn on the cob was warm mouthfuls of cheesy spicy tangy with avocado and garlic dressing ..

I got these noodles at my regular grocery store, nothing fancy. The noodles are made of buckwheat. Digress and google 'health benefits of buckwheat' to learn about their goodness!
Get a pot of water boiling with salt, put the noodles in for 3 mins, strain and set aside. 3 mins will keep them slightly al dente so you can fully cook them with the vegetables and sauces.

Its one of those days that you dont have the time to make 2-3 different preparations and still want to get in the vegetables and lentils. Thats what prompted me to modify the regular spinach saag. I used whatever I had with me that day - frozen spinach, tomatoes, carrots.
I started with frozen-thawed spinach, chunks of carrot, tomato, garlic pods, piece of jalapeno (de-seeded), and spinach in Shweta Humad Sharmahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18348941232757557479noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7061680983388453654.post-74642620220613790522014-04-21T12:51:00.002-07:002014-08-13T10:55:43.914-07:00South Korea
Earlier this year I visited South Korea with my classmates. I was pretty apprehensive about my food choices before going there, even though I was assured and re-assured that I'd be completely taken care of. And I have to say, they were right. There was so much variety in my food choices. But having my locals with me translating and conversing with the restaurants was key. The first thing I do is soak the yeast in lukewarm water with a pinch of sugar and wait till it bubbles.
Meanwhile I get all my other ingredients ready in a large bowl (minus the water). Then I add in the yeast as its ready, and slowly add water while I bind everything by hand. I then cover the dough with a wet thin cloth and leave it for 5-6 hours. I vary up my Falafel recipe by alternating the beans proportion (fava/lima/garbanzo) I throw in. I buy them dry, then soak them overnight. This time I used:
1 and 1/2 cup lima beans

1 tsp whole coriander seeds
half jalapeno
3 large garlic pods

Wanted to share a snack idea - home made plantain chips - quick and simple, plus you know whats going in them. So get a ripe plantain. Peel. Cut into slices about a 1/4th of an inch. Pour some olive oil in a non-stick pan, sprinkle some salt and place the plantain slices flat. After about a minute turn them over and cook till both sides are warm golden. You can make them as crispy as you want Shweta Humad Sharmahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18348941232757557479noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7061680983388453654.post-52232217948369705742012-07-03T15:01:00.001-07:002012-07-03T15:03:44.406-07:00Vegetarian Nuggets aka "Gatte"
This dish is one of my all time favourites - its a complete meal in that it has rice, flour, lentils and vegetables. They are steamed, then lightly sauteed and served with green chutney and loads of fresh yogurt. I always ball park the ingredients because I am so used to this recipe. But for your sake I am going to get back with specific proportions to get the texture right.

I would encourage as much fruit or natural home made snack as you can instead of offering store bought processed snacks. You want to try to instill these habits early. Just stay away from plums and peaches, at least my one year old's bowel is still sensitive to those two.She loves to independently pick at berries and will gobble up so many at once.
