French beans (fansi)

French beans sauteed Indian style

Finely cut beans - 3 cups
1 tbsp your choice of cooking oil
pinch of asafoetida (you can get this at the indian grocery store)
1 tsp turmeric pwd
1 tsp red chilly pwd
salt to taste
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp black mustard seeds
chopped cilantro for garnish


1. Wash and chop the beans

2. Heat the oil, throw in the mustard seeds, wait for them to splatter, then reduce the flame and add in asafoetida

3. Now add the beans and stir them. Add the red chilly pwd, turmeric pwd and salt, folding everything together.

4. Place a lid and cook for 7-8mins on low flame. Add lemon juice in the end, then garnish with chopped cilantro
